During the last pre-World Cup friendly against Tunisia national football team, fans of Austria national football team displayed a banner asking Ralf Rangnick to renew his contract:

"Ralf, with you we are ready for the islands #Euro2028”.

The word "islands" refer to Great Britain and Ireland, which will host the final stage of the European Championship in two years’ time. In his post-match comments, the German said that he feels very comfortable with the Austrian national team, but in reality, as reported by gazzetta.it, the situation is more complex: if he were convinced he wanted to continue as head coach, he would probably have already signed, whereas the interest from AC Milan, which has offered him the role of technical director, is proving quite appealing.

It is no secret that Rangnick met Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic last week, and it is not ruled out that he could speak with AC Milan again in the coming days. The idea of taking charge of Milan’s technical department fascinates him greatly because it would represent another major challenge in his long career. Within this week, more should become clear about his future.
