Ralf Rangnick is currently caught between two sides: on one hand AC Milan and Gerry Cardinale, on the other Austria national football team and a two-year contract renewal. The German coach-executive has been identified, and contacted several times, by the owner of Milan as a possible figure to entrust with the club’s sporting rebuild: he would be given control of the technical direction, although he would want complete freedom of movement and no interference in his work. On the other hand, Austria, where he is head coach, has put forward a two-year renewal offer running until Euro 2028.
Rangnick brings Spors to Milan
The World Cup begins on 16 June for the Austrians and, in this context, Rangnick is waiting in these days for a response from Gerry Cardinale: during the tournament he will not be able to follow the club’s developments in person and would have to delegate the setting up of his work to someone he trusts.
A prospect that the Austrian federation does not particularly like. There is already a name Rangnick would bring with him, as reported today by Tuttosport:
"And Rangnick brings Spors as sporting director".
Johannes Spors, currently sporting director of Southampton F.C. and formerly with Genoa, is a man of Rangnick’s and would be the leading candidate for the role.
