Rafael Leao's words to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' after his Portugal side's draw against the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Portuguese forward was accused of being too “soft”. These were his comments:
Don't you think you looked a bit soft when you came onto the pitch?
"Soft in what sense? I tried to give my maximum, as I always do. There are matches like this; if I don't score a goal or provide an assist, that doesn't mean I'm soft. There are opponents too, and they defend well, so credit must also be given to them. They come at you with two or three players marking you. I will always try to take players on, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The most important thing remains the team. We earned a point, and all we can do now is keep our heads up and think about the next match."
Leao, does the arrival of Ruben Amorim make you want to stay at Milan?
"Right now I'm only thinking about the World Cup and helping my national team. Once the World Cup is over, I'll think about my future."
