No distractions, no transfer-market sirens that could take away his focus: Santiago Gimenez has very clear ideas, his present and his future carry the name of the World Cup. On the eve of the last group-stage match, the Milan player gave a long interview to Tv Azteca.
Milan, listen to Gimenez: “I am focused on Mexico and the World Cup”
'Bebote' revealed that he has set a very strict line with his entourage to prevent any rumours about transfers or contract renewals from affecting his performances. No leaks or comments:
"Look, the agreement we made was to leave everything in the hands of my agent, and not to talk to me about anything at least until I am here with my national team. After the World Cup we will see what happens, but the agreement was this: do not bring up the topic during the World Cup."
Gimenez then stressed the extraordinary uniqueness of the moment he is living, playing a World Cup in front of his own country’s fans:
"For now, this opportunity is not keeping me awake at night. I am totally focused on the World Cup. These are things that happen very few times in a lifetime, at most six, as we see today. But I believe they are unique moments that I want to make the most of, and I do not want to be distracted by things that are not even in my hands. I feel I want to leave everything also in God’s hands; I focus on what I have to do and that is it."
