During his usual update video on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on AC Milan's incoming transfer business, revealing Ruben Amorim's next priority for strengthening the squad:
"Gonçalo Ramos is only the beginning because Milan want to do more in the transfer market, though without the same urgency there was in Ramos's case. There was a need to move quickly and avoid letting the situation drag on until the end of the Club World Cup, at which point they could have lost the player, which was a very real possibility given the interest from other clubs. Milan went all-in and completed the deal for the player very quickly.
However, Milan are not stopping there because, during the internal meetings held over the past few days, with Ruben Amorim involved, the next priority, although we'll see, because the market itself often dictates these things, also concerns a central defender. After the striker, in the first meetings, even before Amorim officially became Milan's head coach, while Cardinale was still evaluating him, he had said that the club needed to sign a top striker, and that led to the Gonçalo Ramos operation.
Now Amorim's focus has shifted to a defender. I'm hearing various names being mentioned, but a central defender is one of the priorities, even more so than a midfielder, in terms of timing. That doesn't rule out Milan signing both, but a defender is 100 per cent one of Ruben Amorim's priorities. They will work on this, assess different options, but the Portuguese coach wants to add a high-level defender to his Milan squad for the 2026/27 season. That is where Milan's next efforts will be concentrated, both financially and in identifying the right profile."
On Casadó:
"Casadó will leave Barcelona this summer because he has played very little. It would represent pure profit for La Masia, but above all he has slipped down the pecking order at Barça. It's true that Casadó could leave, but it's not true that he was on the verge of joining Monaco. Keep an eye on Saudi Arabia as well, because there are opportunities there for Casadó. The key question is whether the player is willing to consider a move to Saudi Arabia or not.
Among the many questions we receive about Milan, at the moment I can tell you that no genuine negotiations have begun. Obviously, when you speak with Jorge Mendes, there are many names on the table. Mendes has a huge number of clients, but as things stand Milan have not asked Mendes to begin working on a deal for Casadó. I have no doubt that the player has been offered to the club, but at the moment there is nothing concrete and no active negotiations. We'll wait and see."
