Zlatan Ibrahimović criticised Ronald Koeman in comments to Fox Sports following the Netherlands’ elimination from the World Cup at the hands of Morocco, which came after a penalty shootout. The former Swedish striker did not hold back on the Dutch coach.
Ibrahimović criticises Koeman: “The Netherlands’ elimination is his responsibility”
“This defeat is Koeman’s responsibility. I did not recognise the Netherlands I admire. They lost by playing a style of football that has nothing to do with the identity of the Oranje, and that makes me angry. You can also lose, but not by giving up your principles, because that is what defines a team.”
“The players were clearly uncomfortable, they did not have control of the match and they were unable to create danger in attack. I consider Koeman absolutely inadequate; today Koeman looked like an Italian coach, playing not to lose, whereas the Netherlands always play to win.”
