The position of the new number 9 has been promptly filled by Milan, to everyone’s surprise given the club’s recent history when it comes to completing certain types of negotiations: Gonçalo Ramos was officially announced on the second day of the transfer window, well before his arrival at Milanello at the end of the World Cup.
In this way, with the main urgency resolved, the Rossoneri club can now focus on the rest of the transfer market: one of the first positions they want to strengthen is centre-back. There are stronger names than others, but also possible surprise candidates.
The top name on the list of Amorim and the Milan management remains Gonçalo Inácio of Sporting. Meanwhile, Antonio Silva of Benfica has dropped significantly in the rankings. According to Tuttosport, a name that could emerge quietly, especially if the first two targets do not come to fruition, could be another Portuguese player, Tiago Gabriel from Lecce. The centre-back has made great progress this year and is managed by Jorge Mendes’s agency. His price is around 25 million euros.
