The star of the day (and night) in Portugal is called Gonçalo Matias Ramos. He is the number 9 of the Portuguese national team and will be the new centre-forward of Milan. Officially announced on Tuesday, when he had only managed 12 minutes across three matches at the World Cup (appearing in just one): today he is a national hero for scoring the decisive header in the World Cup round of 16 match against Croatia. The Rossoneri striker spoke to the press in the mixed zone after the match.
Gonçalo Ramos’s words in the mixed zone after Portugal–Croatia:
"Every day is special, we talk about Diogo Jota every day. He gives us strength and it was truly special to win today to reach one of the most important stages of this competition. Milan? I think this goal is a message to the people who don’t know me well, to show a bit of my qualities and my goals. I love these moments and this kind of matches. I want to play every game like this, I want to be there in the important and decisive moments.”
