RedBird founder and managing partner Gerry Cardinale remains a constant presence around AC Milan this season, continuing to take a hands-on approach to the club’s affairs. A much welcomed change by the supporters.
That involvement has been evident from the very beginning of Ruben Amorim’s tenure. The Rossoneri owner personally welcomed the Portuguese tactician at Milanello, ensuring he felt at home as he began his new chapter at the club.
In fact, Gerry Cardinale's role has extended beyond the usual responsibilities of an owner, with the American businessman also being part of yesterday's press conference to formally introduce Ruben Amorim to the media.
In addition to that, the club owner is also behind every decision in the transfer market. This is noted by our editorial staff, and also personally reiterated by the American businessman to Calcio e Finanza.
"No one at Milan has approval rights, at any threshold, over the transfer market except me. I approve every single penny, and I am the only one who gives the final green light on transfer dealings," he said. "In the way we operate, my approval power is unilateral. And then there is another important point: as I said at the press conference, we do things as a team."
"So the team will continue to make recommendations and we will work as a team. We receive a lot of input from the coach and from my team. But in the end, when the time comes to make a decision, I am the one who approves it."
