Not even a home World Cup has helped AC Milan recover the real Christian Pulisic. Across both club and international football, he is still without a single official goal in 2026. He has scored none for the Rossoneri and none for the United States at the World Cup, leading to heavy criticism back home, where many had expected far more from him. Yet no one is more disappointed by his performances than Pulisic himself, who is also dealing with a fairly serious injury that will keep him sidelined for several weeks.
Pulisic contract renewal: the situation
During this spell away from the pitch, Pulisic will have the chance to reflect on his future. His current contract with AC Milan runs until 2027, although the club hold an option to extend it automatically by a further year. However, the Rossoneri have even bigger plans and are keen to reach an agreement soon on a new deal running until 2030 or 2031.
According to The Athletic, however, the player wants to consider his future carefully before making a decision. On 18 September, 'Captain America' will turn 28, meaning his next contract is likely to be the last major one of his career. For that reason, he is taking his time before committing.
Pulisic contract renewal: Chris weighs up the new Milan and more
Compared with when he left for the World Cup, Milan has changed completely, with a new executive leadership team and, above all, a new head coach. Ruben Amorim has already spoken with Pulisic in recent weeks and made it clear that he sees him as a key part of his plans.
Owner Gerry Cardinale also regards Pulisic as a cornerstone of his new Milan project and considers him completely off the market. Before agreeing to a new contract, though, Chris wants to see the club's new sporting project up close and also take time to reflect on himself after what has been a 2026 season to forget.
