Francesco Camarda, who scored a brace to help Milan come back against Celtic in their first summer friendly, spoke to Sky Sport 24 after the match to discuss the game. His comments:
What a feeling is it?
"I’m very happy. The coach is giving me a lot of confidence, together with the whole staff. They are talking to me a lot about the movements they want from me, and also about what they want from the whole team. Step by step, in training, we are implementing the concepts he asks for. It takes time. We are at the coach’s disposal and we are giving everything to do what he wants."
Camarda, you renewed the contract until 2031: do you feel the responsibility?
"Honestly, I grew up at Milan and I’m proud of the step I have taken, and of this renewal. It is certainly a starting point. I work every day to improve myself and make myself available to the team and the coach. Christian and I grew up at Milan and we are very good friends. I’m happy to continue this journey at Milan and to have the trust of the coach, the staff and the president. Every time I step onto the pitch, whether in training or in a match, I give my whole life. I know opportunities like these cannot be wasted."
How have these two weeks with Amorim been?
"The coach and the staff have brought a lot of positivity. When it is time to go onto the pitch and focus, we concentrate to the maximum. When we are on the field, we are very serious and give everything. I really like the style the coach is bringing. I do what he asks of me and he is giving the team many new ideas. It takes time, and we are fully at the staff’s disposal."
Two goals: an unforgettable day? Camarda replied:
"I’m very happy, but it is a starting point. They were two good goals, especially the second one with Chukwu, who put in a great ball for me. But it has already passed, and I’m looking ahead. I’m already thinking about what I have to do next. In football, what happens in the past is quickly forgotten, and what matters is what happens in the present."
What do you expect from this season? Camarda said:
"I expect to improve a lot, especially in the dressing room, where I already knew most of the lads. I don’t expect anything; I work to improve and to help the team, but above all I work at my maximum for the colours I love. There are opportunities that cannot be missed."
