For at least one more year, AC Milan fans will be able to enjoy the spectacle that Luka Modrić provides both on and off the pitch. One of the finest players of his generation and, more broadly, one of the greatest midfielders in football history, the Croatian star has signed a one-year contract with the Rossoneri.
He has settled in exceptionally well in Milan, with his affection for the club's colours outweighing concerns over his age and the disappointment of Milan's failure to qualify for the Champions League, a setback that did not diminish the former Real Madrid star's enthusiasm for staying.
Speaking at yesterday's press conference, Ruben Amorim was full of praise for Luka Modrić, having already made it clear on the day of his appointment that the club were determined to keep him. As a result, today's edition of Tuttosport carries the headline:
"Amorim is placing all his trust in Modrić."
