Former AC Milan player Serginho, who is currently with the Rossoneri on their pre-season tour as a club legend, gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
On whether Rafael Leao's time at Milan is over or if there is still room for him:
"I believe Rafa has always shown his commitment to the Milan shirt, professionalism, and has given the fans so many great emotions. Over the past two seasons, he has experienced plenty of ups and downs, but he remains an incredibly important player. For me, he is the best player in this squad. I hope he carefully considers his future. Pacts can come to an end, but I am convinced that as long as he stays here, he will always give his all."
What advice would you give Rafael Leao? Serginho said:
"The Milan shirt carries enormous weight – it is still the Milan shirt. Even though we are going through a difficult period, without many reasons to celebrate and without playing in the Champions League. In the end, however, the decision about what to do belongs entirely to him."
Your former teammates Paolo Maldini and Leonardo began their adventure with the Italian national team, but their experience lasted just over two weeks. Are you disappointed for them?
"For them, but above all for Italy and the Italian national team, because they had found two honest, successful people who truly understand football. There is no need to talk about Paolo's technical qualities or everything he achieved both on the pitch and later as a director. The same applies to Leo, with Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. I believe they could have led this period of change and guided the team towards the next World Cup, but when politics gets involved... I just hope Italy finds the right path."
