Adriano Galliani has shed many tears in recent hours after learning of the passing of Franco Baresi, the undisputed symbol of Silvio Berlusconi’s Milan, of which Galliani was a major figure as CEO.
Speaking to Corriere della Sera, the former Rossoneri executive shared this anecdote about the former Milan captain:
“Of the immortal captain, I remember one thing: during my 31 years as Milan’s chief executive, I always negotiated financial contracts with all the players, with the exception of one: the captain. Franco had the honour and privilege of going directly to Arcore, where he would reach an agreement with President Berlusconi. They would tell me the figure, and I would type it up, as we used to say back then.”
Galliani’s grief over Baresi’s passing is immense, and he spoke about his deep sadness:
“It is a day of immense sadness for Italian football. With Franco, the courageous captain of one of the greatest teams of all time, I shared unforgettable moments…”
