Strahinja Pavlović, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport during AC Milan's training camp in Perth, had the following to say about Francesco Camarda and the other youngsters training with the Rossoneri first team:
"I can only say positive things about Camarda. I think he has improved tremendously compared to the first time I saw him (in the 2024-25 season, editor's note), and he has also developed a lot physically. He's still very young, and I believe this could be a really important season for him. He has outstanding finishing ability, and with more experience, he can do very well at Milan.
Is there any other young player who has impressed you during this training camp? Pavlovic said:
"Besides Camarda, I was pleasantly surprised by Kostić. It's not easy for him to come from the Serbian league to a Serie A club, especially Milan. Comotto also made a good impression on me. He's still very young and has plenty of room to improve, but what I like most about him is that he plays as if he has already made a hundred Serie A appearances. That's one of his greatest qualities."
Pavlović also reflected on last season and Milan's failure to qualify for the Champions League following the home defeat to Cagliari:
"To be honest, I haven't even watched that match again. Normally, after every game, I rewatch the entire match or at least the goals, but I haven't thought about that Milan-Cagliari game again because it still hurts too much.
Did we drop too many points against the smaller teams? I think it was mainly a mental issue. Against those teams, we didn't play with the same mentality we had in the derbies or the big matches.
In games where we were the favourites, we lacked the hunger to earn all three points that we showed in the biggest fixtures. It's not possible to beat Inter, Napoli and the other teams in the top five or six of the table, then lose against opponents we should have beaten on paper. That's why I believe it was primarily a mental problem. I don't see any other explanation."
