Recently, AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim welcomed several players back into his squad following their involvement in the World Cup. The last group to return on 2 August included Luka Modrić, Ardon Jashari, and Belgian duo Alexis Saelemaekers and Koni De Winter. A few days earlier, Portuguese internationals Rafael Leão and Gonçalo Ramos had already rejoined the team.
All of these players are expected to be available for Milan today, starting with the pre-season friendly against Inter in Perth, Australia, kicking off at 13:00 Italian time. Joining them is another player who missed the first friendly due to injury: Christopher Nkunku.
Around ten days ago, when Milan travelled to Glasgow for their friendly against Celtic, Christopher Nkunku stayed behind in Milan after suffering a minor muscle issue. The setback ruled him out of the trip, but fortunately the Frenchman has now fully recovered and is pushing for a place in the starting line-up.
Tuttosport's headline reads:
"Excitement builds to see Nkunku in his preferred position."
The French international is expected to operate as one of the two attacking midfielders behind the striker, alongside either Rafael Leão or Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It is the role in which Nkunku made his name at RB Leipzig, and one that Amorim believes can help him rediscover his best form.
