Ruben Amorim, Milan’s head coach, spoke to Sky Sport after the end of Milan-Inter, the friendly match played in Perth that finished 1-1:
“It is important that we did not lose, but the most important thing is improving as a team. We started very well, pressing really well, but Inter have a lot of experience. They immediately understood what we were trying to do, and we struggled towards the end of the first half and at the start of the second half. Then we improved: the final 20 minutes of the match were good. It was a good test, but we need more games to try all the players.”
What positive things did you see today? Amorim answered:
“We are trying to build from the back a lot, but without taking the same risks we took against Glasgow. It was also a good match from a physical point of view.”
How do you assess Rafael Leao's performance?
“I think the same things I said in the press conference: if you are a Milan player, you are lucky and you have to enjoy yourself. He is enjoying himself, but he is a player of the team. Today, he helped the team and that is important. But, I evaluate him in the same way as Nkunku and Camarda.”
What do you need to improve the most?
“Everything, especially with the ball. If we have more possession, we will suffer less. But it is something that takes time: we need to have more possession in order to suffer less.”
At the start of the match, there was a tribute to Franco Baresi...
“I would not have expected a different scenario. I saw all the images yesterday. He was a special player and a special person. We will miss him a lot. But the only way to remember him as he deserves is to do things well and bring our club back to where it belongs.”
