Youssouf Fofana’s future is far away from Milan, light years away, in fact. According to well-known journalist and transfer expert Matteo Moretto, speaking in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, there is some tentative interest from the Premier League in the French midfielder, but there are still no formal offers.
For Milan, however, Fofana is now firmly out of the club’s plans. Moretto said:
“I believe that Milan, despite the two signings made at the start of the transfer window, still need to try to strengthen the squad. We will see whether Cardinale can bring new players to Milan. Buying is simple, especially when you put a lot of money on the table; selling is more difficult because you then have to find the right buyers and the best solutions for players to leave.
As things stand, Milan have allowed Athekame to leave on a straight loan. Cissé’s move to Torino is not yet that advanced: the interest is strong and there is a negotiation ongoing, but in this case too, it would be a straight loan.
For the past two days, we have been saying that there are two midfielders on their way out: one is Ricci and the other is Fofana. Fofana has specifically been told to find another club. Fofana is appreciated in the Premier League, but there are still no real, concrete offers for him. We will see what solution Fofana finds for his departure.”
