Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto provided these updates on the potential departures of Santiago Gimenez and Rafael Leao, the latter of whom has also been linked with Roma in recent hours:
“Today, Milan and Porto are expected to make contact to finalise the Gimenez operation. There is optimism. They are discussing a loan deal with no fee and an option to buy. The Mexican already has an agreement with Porto. They were only waiting for Rodrigo Mora to leave."
"Leao to Roma? As far as I know, this is an old situation. At the beginning of the transfer window, there was an enquiry, but nothing came of it afterwards. Roma moved on to other targets, and I reiterate that Leao is not open to Italian options. It is difficult for Serie A clubs to match Leao’s salary demands financially. I would focus more on the options we have been discussing in recent hours, namely Galatasaray and Saudi Arabia.”
