AC Milan won 1-2 against Torino away from home. The Rossoneri head coach, Ruben Amorim, spoke to the media in a post-match press conference.
Question: did you like the team’s attitude?
"Every coach has a different idea of how the game should be played. There’s no right or wrong idea; there’s winning or not winning. We want to control the ball, and we did that well in the first half. Then we need to do it better, we need to kill the game off. We came into this match without having played that many games, and with several players who had very few minutes under their belts. Rabiot has only just arrived, while Modrić is not in his best condition. It’s understandable that we played 75 minutes at a very high level in the first game of the season."
Amorim, where do you see Diego Moreira playing? Are you satisfied with Chukwueze’s first defensive performance?
“Moreira can play as a wing-back on either the right or the left, although he will probably play more on the right. At a big club, you need two top players for every position. Moreira and Chukwueze have important qualities that are difficult to find in a single player. Of course, in a system, if you play with a wide player with certain characteristics, the player on the opposite side needs to have different ones. Saelemaekers likes to move inside and has a different style of play. They will also play together and compete for the position," as relayed via Milannews.it.
Was there anything you didn’t like?
“I won’t say. I don’t want to be harsh on my players. I liked the game until the 75th minute, but that was more my fault than theirs. When I look at the team, I think we have the potential to do better. I liked the players today.”
What about Alphadjo Cissé? Amorim answered:
“He’s an intelligent boy. He did well today, but we have to be careful. He will play some games and not others; we need to balance everything. You know Milan better than I do... He has a lot of work to do. Playing for Milan is very difficult. There is pressure when you’re fighting for titles. With him, Camarda, Comotto and Vladimirov, we will try to help these young players develop.”
