After Christopher Nkunku, for whom RB Leipzig remain ahead of Newcastle in the race, Milan continue to work on accelerating the departures of players deemed no longer suited to Ruben Amorim’s project. With eight days of the transfer window remaining, Youssouf Fofana and Samuele Ricci remain on the way out, while Rafael Leão and Fikayo Tomori could also leave in the event of a truly significant offer.
The latest rumours surrounding the future of the English centre-back are directly linked to Aston Villa’s plans to strengthen a defensive department left without Ezri Konsa, who moved to Arsenal for €60 million. Unai Emery’s side, which has just completed a deal for midfielder Leon Goretzka, are looking for an important and reliable profile, but their available budget does not appear to allow for extravagant spending. Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis remains the primary target, while interest in Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez has emerged in recent hours. However, both players are valued at around or above €40 million, particularly with the transfer window now approaching its conclusion for everyone.
Milan therefore remain hopeful that Fikayo Tomori, who is still on Aston Villa’s list of defensive targets, can gradually climb the pecking order and become their first choice if the Premier League club fails to push through a deal for the other profiles they are pursuing.
The fact that Tomori’s contract with Milan expires in the summer of 2027 could help the English club, while his net salary of €3.5 million is also considered affordable. The Rossoneri are hoping to receive around €15 million for the 1997-born defender. This was relayed via Calcio Mercato.
