Rafael Leao has bid farewell to AC Milan. He is set for a new chapter at Galatasaray in the Turkish League.
Here are his words before the move to Turkiye, as relayed via Milannews.it.
The emotions?
“Those have already passed. As I already said, yesterday I was at the stadium with my former teammates. The emotion of my last time at San Siro. I wanted to be on the pitch, say goodbye to the fans and feel their energy. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible, but I wish Milan all the best and I will continue to watch them from afar. That’s life. One cycle ends and another begins. I’m very happy to start a new adventure in a new country, at a club that is doing very well. Last year, they showed what they can do in the Champions League, a competition that is very important to me. The aim is to add quality to their team, although they already have some strong players.”
Leao, a message to the fans?
“Thank you very much for everything. From the very first day, I felt at home. Every time my family came to Milan, they felt at home too. I was very happy to wear the Milan shirt. We won important trophies and I will carry Milan with me wherever I go.”
Did we make you a little angry?
“Many times (laughs, ed.). We footballers are used to everyone speaking well of us when we do things well. When you don’t do things well, it’s fair for people to talk, but if they do, it’s because you have something different to show others.”
Will you teach the Turks how to surf?
“Yes, yes, of course (laughs, ed.).”
