Journalist Luca Bianchin spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about AC Milan’s transfer market activity and the possibility of signing another defender:
"The truth is that Milan are seriously considering not signing that additional defender. The club remains alert to the market but, at the moment, the chances of a centre-back not arriving are greater than the likelihood of the opposite. Why? First of all, because there is no particularly convincing candidate. Milan have assessed several centre-backs and none are considered indispensable. None, in the eyes of Cardinale, Amorim, Almstadt and Gardiner, would raise the level of the defensive department. Then there is the assessment of the players themselves. Diawara and Vladimirov are appreciated by Amorim."
"In short, Milan," Luca Bianchin explained, "believe they already have six defenders for rotation: Gila, De Winter, Pavlovic, Gabbia, Diawara and Vladimirov. Then there is Terracciano, who, barring surprises, will not leave, and Bartesaghi, who can play as the left-sided centre-back. If a special opportunity presents itself, Milan will take it, they have already shown that they are capable of spending, so it will not be a question of money, but they will not desperately search for a centre-back at any cost."
"Of course, at this point it becomes important to avoid long-term injuries in the department and to give Diawara and Vladimirov playing time, in the Europa League and sometimes in the league as well. Amorim has made it clear that he does not want a second experienced striker because he does not want to block Camarda’s path, and he will apply the same principle to the defence. Trust the youngsters."
