Catanzaro sporting director Ciro Polito shared his thoughts on Mattia Liberali and his decision not to return to Milan, but instead to join Como.
Among the Catanzaro players who have broken through in recent years are undoubtedly Cisse, Liberali and Fasavuli, who have now joined major Serie A clubs. Speaking to Milannews.it, Catanzaro sporting director Ciro Polito had this to say:
How satisfying is it to see talents like Cisse, Liberali and Fasavuli at big clubs?
"All three of them are a source of pride. I look for these players myself and take great care of them, and they have given me enormous satisfaction. You could never have imagined that within seven or eight months they would be playing for top Italian clubs. It’s also a great thing for Italy because they are young Italian players, and when they are given the chance to play, they show their talent."
On Liberali: did he make the right decision by going to Como?
"I don’t know whether it was the right or wrong decision. Milan did everything they could to bring him back. In my opinion, it was more about how he had been treated before, it was a matter of principle. It’s true that I told them that Como have Fàbregas and everything that comes with that, but Milan showed that they really wanted him back at all costs. So, at Milan today, he and Cisse would have been starters. But it’s a decision they made, and only time will tell whether it was the right or wrong one."
