At the start of this season, there has understandably been a lot of talk about the devastating impact made by Alphadjo Cisse, who has scored two goals in the first three league games, but another player is also making a name for himself in a position that is not really his natural one, namely as a right-sided wing-back. We are talking about Samuel Chukwueze, who returned this summer from his loan spell at Fulham and was kept in the squad by Ruben Amorim, who had already spoken highly of the Nigerian from his very first press conference.
The former Villarreal player looks comfortable in this new position, as demonstrated by the two winning assists he has provided in the first three Serie A games: the first against Torino for Adrien Rabiot's goal, while the second came last Sunday away at Juventus for Alphadjo Cisse's goal. In addition to these two decisive passes, Chukwueze has shown plenty of other positive qualities, including a very attentive defensive contribution. After a few underwhelming seasons between Milan and Fulham, the Nigerian has finally returned to producing important performances, and Ruben Amorim certainly deserves some of the credit for giving him plenty of confidence.
Milan set to make contacts with Chukwueze's camp for a possible renewal
According to Tuttosport this morning, the Rossoneri winger wants to become a key player for the club both now and in the future, and it is no coincidence that contacts are expected between the Milan management and his representatives in the coming weeks to discuss a possible renewal of his contract, which expires in 2028. The common intention appears to be to continue together, and the club will therefore look to lay the foundations for a longer-term partnership. The idea would be to extend his contract until 2031. However, negotiations over a renewal have yet to begin. For now, Chuku must simply focus on the pitch and build on his excellent start to the season.
