Gazzetta: Hutchinson stalls, but Amorim trusts him

In 58 minutes for the Rossoneri, Omari Hutchinson showed that there is talent there, but he needs to work on it, writes La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition.

His debut for AC Milan came in the final 13 minutes against Lazio, when he played a part in the Rossoneri’s comeback. He was rewarded for his effort with a starting place against Benfica, making his European debut just a few days later. His first experience of San Siro lasted only one half, which ended with boos from the stands.

It was not the best game for Amorim’s tactical experiments, as after 45 minutes he changed both the personnel and the shape. Rather than being an individual rejection, Hutchinson had simply been part of a clearly inadequate team performance.

It was, however, a test that did not reveal much, given that the team that took the field against Benfica was too experimental. In correcting the line-up, the coach left Hutchinson out after having backed him in the transfer market: an assist in his favour after having been hit by an opponent’s goal.

It was Omari who spoiled Amorim’s English debut with a goal that secured a draw between Ipswich and United. Having seen the player up close, the coach was impressed and later wanted to bring him back to his side. He is confident that Hutchinson can provide him with more goals that, this time, they can celebrate together.
