Olivier Giroud who turns 40 today, opened up to 'L'Équipe' about his career on the occasion of his birthday.
After discussing his memories with France, as well as in the French and English leagues, the Lille striker hinted that he will bring his career to an end at the end of the season.
"We can do interviews for 'L'Équipe' next year, with pleasure, but as a player, I think this is very probably my last season. That's why I'm enjoying every moment," said the 2018 World Cup winner.
Among the questions he was asked, Olivier Giroud also spoke about the best players he has shared a dressing room with throughout his career.
"At Arsenal, Cazorla: exceptional technical quality with both feet. And then Özil. At Chelsea, Hazard, Willian, Pedro and those six months with Fabregas, who had the same intelligence as Cazorla. In defence, the toughest in training were David Luiz, Koscielny, Rüdiger, Azpilicueta... real soldiers. At Milan, I played with Rafa Leao, a pure talent who is building the career he deserves. And then Ibrahimovic, of course!”
Olivier Giroud on how he dealt with criticism throughout his career:
"I didn't read it at all! I'm not someone who gives too much importance to what people say, and that's what I try to teach younger players. You have to build a shell around yourself, otherwise you won't make it. But certain rumours reach you anyway. At Arsenal, I received criticism but turned the situation around. With Lampard at Chelsea, before the European Championship, I wanted to leave so I could play more. During the final three days of the transfer window, I kept going to his office to find a solution: I was very close to joining Inter, then destiny took me to Milan the following year..."
