AC Milan could return to wearing Adidas from the 2028-29 season onwards.
The rumour has been gaining traction in recent hours, particularly following a partial preview from specialist football shirt website Footy Headlines, which reported a major Adidas acquisition within the Italian market.
According to Milan News, talks between Milan and the German brand are at an advanced stage, given that the club's current agreement with Puma expires in 2028, and negotiations over new deals typically begin during the final phase of the existing contract. It should be stressed that, at present, the message coming from Casa Milan is clear: Puma is a very important partner with whom the club works and will continue to work closely until the current contract expires. There is no signature yet, but multiple sources are reporting that negotiations are well advanced.
Milan-Adidas: what the German brand is aiming for
In recent months, there had been rumours of talks between Milan and Nike, but they did not progress. As for Adidas, the German brand's expansion strategy needs to be considered. It wants to take advantage of the current period of stagnation involving its historic rivals Nike in the football world and bring some of the strongest brands at international level back under its umbrella. With Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus already among its partners, to name just a few, the Milan operation is in the woks, finding an opening from the Rossoneri club's management.
