Luka Modrić is not eternal, however much we might wish otherwise. The player knows this and is trying to enjoy the moment without planning too far ahead for his future. Milan are also aware of it and want to protect themselves in case the season ends with the player deciding to bring his career to an end.

For this reason, over the coming weeks and during the winter transfer window, the Rossoneri club wants to start thinking about its own future and who could take on the considerable responsibility of succeeding the Croatian star. One name is gaining prominence: Alex Scott, the Bournemouth midfielder born in 2003.
Alex Scott on AC Milan's radar:
This morning, the Italian midfielder is discussed on the pages of 'Corriere dello Sport', which identifies English midfielder Alex Scott as a possible Milan target in view of potentially succeeding Luka Modrić.
According to the newspaper, AC Milan are in action, but Bournemouth are asking for €50 million. This is a very high price, and it remains to be seen how the Rossoneri intend to try to pull off the deal.
The subheading adds: "The club is thinking about and working on Modrić’s succession: the profile is that of a young midfielder with characteristics suited to Amorim’s style of play." We also read: “Running, intensity and technique are the Englishman’s strengths."
