The artist Luca Rosada, known as Lucas Street Art, spoke to MilanNews.it about the new mural he has dedicated to Franco Baresi, following the vandalism of his previous work last year.
“I’m delighted. I get goosebumps reading all the comments and compliments about this work, which is no longer mine but belongs to everyone.”
“The one that was vandalised featured an iconic image of Baresi from 1978, wearing this shirt with the Cuore sponsor, which had a double meaning. My idea of art is that when a work is vandalised, it has reached the end of its life, so I decided not to reproduce it and instead chose a second image. This time, it is taller, at three metres, and depicts Baresi after scoring against Padova in 1995, when Milan won thanks to the last goal Baresi scored in a Milan shirt. We responded to the act of vandalism with a smile.”
Then there are Baresi’s values displayed alongside the image...
“Yes, they embody Franco Baresi, representing him and the true spirit of Milan.”
The hope is that the artwork will not be touched.
“Among the six values is Respect. Not respect for my artwork, but for the image and the person it represents.”
What did Baresi represent to you?
“My first idol. I grew up during my adolescence with the successes of the Milan team captained by Franco Baresi.”
