Alexis Saelemaekers underwent surgery on his right ankle today following the sprain he suffered at Milanello during the international break.
The Belgian's ankle had lost stability as a result of a procedure he underwent in Rome two years ago after fracturing one of his ankle bones.
AC Milan confirmed that the surgery went according to plan and was performed in the Netherlands, with members of the Rossoneri's medical staff also in attendance.
Here's the Rossoneri club's official statement:
"AC Milan announces that Alexis Saelemaekers underwent surgery on his right ankle today in Amsterdam. The arthroscopic debridement and stabilisation procedure, performed by Dr Gino Kerkhoffs in the presence of Dr Andrea Bulgheroni and Diego Mantovani from AC Milan’s medical staff, was successfully completed."
