AC Milan want Nicolò Tresoldi, the Bruges striker who brought Inter down at San Siro with a hat-trick.
The Rossoneri’s pursuit of the 22-year-old born in Cagliari has been going on for some time and is not the result of Tuesday’s achievement: at Casa Milan, there are many reports on him, and Gerry Cardinale knows his value well.
For this reason, he has asked his transfer-market men to keep monitoring the situation with the player’s entourage. The number one at RedBird wants to be informed about Nicolò’s future so that he can intervene. Both in the January transfer window and in the one next summer.
The operation is financially significant because the Belgian club rejected a €35 million offer from Roma in August and because, in the last two months, Tresoldi has scored two hat-tricks (the other with Germany’s Under-21 team against Malta) and other goals. In short, his price has already exceeded the €50 million mark, and there is no shortage of competition. Just to give an example, Inter are also thinking about the goalscorer, who, however, has supported the Rossoneri since he was a child. He has now become an important and highly regarded centre-forward, but his passion for the club he loves has remained. An additional weapon that Cardinale will try to exploit, as happened successfully in the negotiations for Jashari, who is also a fan of the Diavolo and was signed from Bruges in August 2025, writes Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition.
Tresoldi would be an important investment...
Nicolò, who is being contested by the German and Italian national teams (he will make his choice after the Under-21 European Championship, which he will play with the Germans), is the son of Emanuele, who was a left-back among the professionals for twenty years (18 appearances in Serie A with Atalanta, then he played for various provincial teams and had an experience in China).
Tresoldi senior himself admitted to La Gazzetta this week: "My son is a Milan supporter, and his dream is to wear the Rossoneri shirt. If Inter were to call him, I’m not sure he would accept."
A couple of months ago, Bruges had already sold Tzolis to Arsenal and, not wanting to lose another key player, kept him despite Roma intending to purchase him as Malen’s backup (they then signed Castro from Bologna).
It is difficult to imagine Tresoldi remaining in Belgium in 2027–28 as well: everything already suggests that he is ready to make the leap to one of Europe’s top five leagues. Including his own desire, that of an ambitious young man who feels ready for important stages. Perhaps to aim to win prestigious trophies both with club teams and wearing the national team shirt. Whether that of Klopp or Mancini.
As his father admitted, his passion for Milan could be an important factor in the negotiations and thus push Bruges to negotiate with Gerry Cardinale’s men. Just as happened in the case of Ardon Jashari in the summer of 2025.
Tresoldi is a striker with great potential, one of those who still have considerable room for growth. He would be a perfect investment both for the present and for the club’s future. Milan are naturally aware of the risks, starting with the strong competition from Premier League clubs. And competing with offers arriving from England would objectively become complicated.
At the same time, however, the Rossoneri have no intention of loosening their grip: Tresoldi is and will remain a target.
Project
In addition to looking for reinforcements for the January transfer window (above all a defender, with Gonçalo Inácio of Sporting Lisbon in pole position, and perhaps a player to deploy in the attacking midfield area, such as Endrick of Real Madrid), the intention is to secure important players who have a top-level career ahead of them.
Like Tresoldi.
The Milan of tomorrow is also built by acting ahead of the market. And Cardinale, if he has the opportunity...
