Well-known journalist Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, explained that Markus Krösche is close to becoming Milan’s new Head of Football:
“At the moment, Markus Krösche is really close to becoming Milan’s new Head of Football. Let’s say that the financial side is not a problem because the parties reached an agreement quite some time ago, as far back as June. In recent weeks, it is true that we told you how Milan had re-established contact with Krösche in September and early October. The financial side has never been a problem because, in reality, the agreement was already in place."

"They simply needed to work out how to structure the role as effectively and appropriately as possible, dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. In other words, what powers he would have within Milan, how he would fit into the existing structure, and how he would work alongside those who are already part of the Milan set-up."
"They simply needed to iron out a few details. The parties negotiated at length, including over the last few days, and now I can tell you that Krösche is finally very close to becoming Milan’s new Head of Football."
Milan tried to sign Krösche in every possible way back in June.
"The real major problem was always the financial agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt and the terms of the exit clause. So, in fact, it is true that there was a summer transfer window to prepare for in June, meaning that Krösche would hardly have been able to walk away from the Eintracht project lightly at that particular point in time.
However, the real obstacle was always the financial agreement between Eintracht and Krösche, as well as between Eintracht and Milan, because Eintracht had asked Milan for compensation to release Markus Krösche.”
