AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale spoke live on DAZN for the first time since becoming the Rossoneri's leading figure. The American was interviewed ahead of this evening's Derby against Inter. His statements:
What emotions are you feeling?
“I looked around, and it really is a great evening. We have already had quite a few derbies, but there is something special about tonight, something electric. It is something I have never seen before. I think it will be a great evening for us.”
Amorim really values your support... But above all, how great is your ambition for this Milan? Cardinale commented:
“You have seen how we do things with RedBird in America... The same ambition is here, the ambition to bring Milan back to the top. Not only in Italy, but also in Europe. There is a very long road ahead for Serie A, Italian football and Milan. I will not stop until I achieve it. My relationship with Amorim is important. You will not see any other owner as involved as I am, and this will not end here. We will do everything possible, it is my job, to bring Milan back to the top. But it is a team effort. If everyone does their job, then we will win.”
How excited are you about the new stadium?
“It is a great victory for us. We have renewed Pulisic's contract, who is an iconic player, and presented the project for the new stadium. It will be a 72,000-seat venue, but it will not just be a sports stadium, as you will have heard Manica and Foster say. It will be a cultural icon and a statement of intent from Milan and Inter. It will bring Milanese football back to the top. It is a statement of intent to the whole world. It will be the best stadium in the world. It will be a statement of intent for Italy and Italian football: I want it to be an Italian project. San Siro is called the Scala of Football. This will be the Scala of Football 2.0. I am excited about it.”
On Amorim, Gerry Cardinale said:
“Top Gun is one of our biggest films (Paramount's). Amorim is my wingman, and I will not leave him behind. He is my man. Our bond is unbreakable. We will go on to win. Maybe it will not happen immediately. Maybe it will take some time. But given the way I work, and the way RedBird works, I can say that in the end, we always get there, and we win. My commitment, and that of everyone who wears the Rossoneri colours, is to make it and succeed in winning. We will manage to win.”
