The summer transfer saga has made a comeback in these final days of the transfer market. What will happen to Adrien Rabiot? As of June 28th, the French midfielder is still a free agent, but considering that the season is about to finally kick off, the former Juventus player is eager to get back on the pitch, dictating play alongside his teammates who have already returned to the field.

At the moment, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Adrien Rabiot is an intriguing option for AC Milan, although the chances of it happening are slim, and there are several obstacles to overcome in the remaining time of the transfer window. It’s not so much about a deadline, since being a free agent, Milan can sign him whenever they want, but more about the fact that the Serie A and Champions League seasons will soon be in full swing.

Being an international-caliber player who is already well-acquainted with the dynamics of Serie A, Adrien Rabiot might not need much time to adapt. However, Milan's style of play and the roles that Fonseca would assign to him would be new, even for him, in a midfield that would be completely revolutionized by this transfer window.

Milan has two obstacles to overcome to sign Rabiot

Dreaming costs nothing, and probing the ground is just as easy, which is what Milan is reportedly doing with Adrien Rabiot at the moment. All the best intentions are there to make this deal happen, but we must face reality. In his last year at Juventus, the French midfielder earned 7 million euros, and according to La Gazzetta, he is looking for an even more lucrative new experience, with his mother/agent Veronique not offering discounts to anyone so far.

To avoid disrupting the balance within the locker room, Milan would likely limit their financial offer, presenting him with an ambitious technical project and a leadership role that he might not find elsewhere, especially in the Premier League.

The second obstacle concerns the ongoing and delicate issue of the squad list, with Milan needing to sell someone (Bennacer) to make room for Rabiot in the squad. The alternative remains Manu Koné from Borussia Monchengladbach, but the former Juventus player could be that final impactful signing capable of reigniting a somewhat cooled atmosphere after a challenging start to the season.
