Noah Okafor, AC Milan's forward, expressed himself on Instagram, closing the controversy regarding his role with the Swiss national team:
"A lot has been said about me in recent weeks and months. Even though we played an impressive tournament as a national team, my role in the squad was often a much-discussed topic."
"I love playing for my country. I have always felt good about doing whatever I could to recommend myself. Being allowed to be a national team player is something special. You don’t get it as a gift. Every minute with the national team jersey is precious, whether you collect it as a player in the starting XI or as a substitute."
Okafor added:
"That’s why it hurts now to hear and read that I supposedly didn’t have a good attitude. I am being judged for my character, and it’s assumed that I didn’t give my all to play. I won’t point fingers at anyone or speak badly of anyone. That’s how I was raised. It’s not about which country you can play for. It’s bad to talk. I didn’t speak during the European Championships, and I won’t speak now. I will fully focus on my club and work hard for AC Milan. I want to and will score important goals here, and I am preparing for that. I will train, play, and work with passion. This is my job. This is my duty. This is my passion… Noah."
