It's not a great moment for Theo Hernandez, who is struggling even with the national team.
The AC Milan left-back was one of the worst performers for France in the match lost at home to Italy 3-1.
This is the assessment, two days after the game, from L'Equipe on the Rossoneri player's performance:
"On Friday, Theo Hernandez was dominated in duels, negatively involved in two Italian goals, and never managed to pose an offensive threat. The debate about his defensive level is old, but the Milan full-back (26 years old) often compensated for his shortcomings with tireless activity and efficiency in the final third. This is no longer the case, and his poor form is not new."
The article continued to point out Theo's poor performance:
"Hernandez, who has lost the two players closest to him in this training process, Olivier Giroud (retired from the national team) and Benjamin Pavard (not called up), would undoubtedly benefit from competition. The problem is that there aren't many candidates. Ferland Mendy is one of them, but the Madrid player, whose absence from this training process has fueled internal questions about his real motivations, has a strained relationship with the Blues. Lucas Digne, whose last selection was in 2022, is starting from a distance. While waiting for new profiles to emerge (Quentin Merlin?), the solution might come from another Hernandez. With his appealing style and leadership status, Lucas will return from injury (left knee) at the beginning of 2025", as relayed via Milan News.
