Paulo Fonseca, speaking to DAZN, commented on Milan’s victory in the Derby della Madonnina.
The victory of courage:
"It was an important match. First of all, because it’s a derby that Milan hadn't won in a long time. It was important given the moment we were going through, but I think the players showed a lot of courage, and I think we deserved to win. I can't recall a team that caused Inter so many problems as we did in recent times."
Where did the idea to play like this come from?
"We didn’t change anything; we played with the same structure. What we did was create something different, which is putting Fofana between the center backs when we faced difficulties. Other than that, it was the same structure. The players changed, but Morata took on the same role Tijji had against Liverpool, so the formation remained the same."
On Alvaro Morata’s position on the field:
"Morata played the same role as Tijji (Reijnders) in the previous matches. They are different players because Morata moves forward more easily, but the role and structure are the same. Abraham’s proximity was key; he did a great job, but the structure stayed unchanged."
Are you happy that you won’t be questioned, at least for a week?
"It’s the same to me. I don’t hear, don’t watch, and don’t see anything. It will be a week with a bit more confidence, but what matters to me is that the players keep believing in our ideas and working as they have so far. Today, it was the players’ victory."
Will you bring us pastel de nata?
"When I get the chance, you will all have pastel de nata. For everyone, even Boban."
