In the 39th minute, the match was unlocked by a set-piece. A cross from Theo Hernandez was flicked on by Morata's header, putting the Rossoneri in the lead. Lecce disappeared for 5 minutes, and Milan dominated.
In the 41st minute, Theo Hernandez took matters into his own hands and scored the second goal for Milan with a left-footed shot. Milan’s onslaught wasn’t over yet because in the 43rd minute, the third goal arrived. Abraham tried to get on the scoresheet but first hit the post, and then Falcone saved his shot. Christian Pulisic, though, pounced on the rebound to make it 3-0 for Milan.
Lecce was stunned, and Milan made a difficult match look easy.
In the second half, the pace naturally slowed down, with Lecce trying to do something to get back into the game, hitting the post with Banda. Milan responded with a crossbar from Loftus-Cheek and other dangerous counter-attacks that frightened the Lecce side. Towards the end, substitutions were made, including the introduction of young Bartesaghi, who played only a few minutes. In the 80th minute, there was a rough foul on Banda, resulting in a straight red card for the young full-back.
But it didn’t change much; Milan won 3-0, repeating the success of the derby, and climbed to 11 points, temporarily joining Torino at the top of the standings for the night, as pointed out by Alfredo Pedullà.
