Rafael Leao, the AC Milan left-winger, spoke to 'A Bola' after the Scotland - Portugal match, a Nations League game that ended 0-0, with the Rossoneri player coming on in the 61st minute:
"I knew it wouldn't be an easy game like many expected, because we knew that against Scotland it would be a tough match. They were playing at home; we knew it would be completely different from the game against Poland; they are a fierce team. We had the same intensity, but we just weren't effective in front of goal."
What did coach Martinez ask of you when you came on? Leao replied:
"The coach asked me for depth, one-on-one situations, and to do my best. Basically, to play my game to create opportunities. They were a very compact team; we had little space, and the coach wanted me to make deep runs with and without the ball."
How do you feel with the national team?
"At the highest level. When I'm here (in Portugal), I feel everyone's support. The coach also has a lot of confidence in me, and that is crucial for my game."
