Repubblica: Milan aims to go as far as possible, but reinforcements are needed for Fonseca’s squad

AC Milan wins convincingly against Empoli, but it is from these victories—anything but simple—that the stark and raw truth emerges: Paulo Fonseca's team has experienced far too many setbacks this season.

Yet, with the game against Bologna still to be rescheduled—a Bologna side that also seems to have hit its stride—the three points earned yesterday bring the Rossoneri closer to the Champions League zone.

While this objective might not excite the fans, for Milan's ownership, it remains an essential condition.

A failure to qualify would severely compromise the now-customary "balance sheet Scudetto," a hallmark of the Anglo-American management.

In light of this, La Repubblica writes this morning that Milan, faced with continuous fluctuations it can no longer afford, is realizing that a few reinforcements in the squad would be prudent in the upcoming transfer market.

The newspaper continues, stating that the rumors are worth paying attention to, particularly those not far from Milan. In Monza, it’s now taken for granted that French midfielder Warren Bondo will leave, a versatile profile that would be highly useful in a midfield like Milan’s.

So far this season, the Rossoneri midfield has relied almost exclusively on the duo of Reijnders and Fofana.

As for the candidate to become the backup of Theo Hernandez, Empoli's Pezzella did not perform particularly well at San Siro, which means the club will continue to assess options until a definitive decision is made in January.

What is Milan's dilemma regarding Daniel Maldini?

According to La Repubblica, the biggest unresolved issue for Milan in the transfer market, potentially postponed until June but no later, remains Daniel Maldini. Once again, he shone yesterday in the derby against Como. Given that Milan retained a first-refusal right, failing to exercise it for 6 million euros, especially considering the need to find an alternative to Christian Pulisic in the attacking midfielder role, would seem quite peculiar.
