Former footballer Alessandro Costacurta, speaking in the Sky Calcio L'Originale studio, commented on Matteo Gabbia's contract extension with Milan until 2029:
"I believe that Matteo Gabbia's contract renewal is the best news of the day. He’s the best defender they have, even in terms of behavior. Even when he speaks, he does so well. I think he is the real captain of Milan; there’s no point in giving the armband to others."
Costacurta added:
"The captain of Milan is Gabbia. He’s a boy born in my province, raised at Milanello, so I’m very happy for him."
