Zlatan Ibrahimovic, AC Milan's advisor, was interviewed by Mediaset ahead of the awaited derby match in the Italian Supercup final.

Here are the Swedish star's statements, as relayed via Milannews.it:

Is it harder to experience nights like these as a player or as an executive?

“The adrenaline is still there, but it was more beautiful to be on the pitch. Playing football is the best thing… Now I’m gaining experience as an executive, but the adrenaline is still there. That’s for sure.”

How is Sérgio Conceição doing?

“The team is responding well; there’s energy and harmony. The entire squad is motivated. They’re doing a great job, and it’s only been a few days with the new coach. But something is already happening; the team is adapting well to the situation.”

Now he's ready to get angry too... Ibrahimovic replied:

“It’s a good balance. Now I take a step back: I give the hugs; he wields the stick. But if that’s not enough, I’ll step in.”

How do you prepare for a derby? What advice did you give the players?

“The players have experience with this derby. A derby is always special; there’s respect. It’s more than just a match. You prepare for it with focus and control, but you also need the desire to win. We’ve done everything to be here. Then, it’s a match you have to win—no excuses or anything else. When you step onto the pitch, all that matters is winning.”

Will a Supercup victory change anything in the transfer market? How are you moving? Ibrahimovic replied:

“A Supercup victory won’t change much. We’re evaluating market situations and discussing various possibilities. Something will happen.”

In attack, defence, or midfield?

“We need to talk to the new coach, but he’s been too focused on this final, so we haven’t discussed it yet. As a club, however, there’s always a strategy and a plan. Everything is under control.”

Rafael Leao made it back just in time—how much of an impact can he have?

“When you step onto the pitch, you don’t feel anything anymore. The adrenaline kicks in, and you feel incredible, like you’re at 200%. There are no excuses. Believe me, even if you’re playing with one leg, you don’t feel the pain. That’s what Leão and everyone on the bench will feel, as well as those starting the match.”

So, Ibrahimovic, can you play too?

“I can manage the last 5-10 minutes (smiles)."
