Santiago Gimenez, a transfer target for Milan during this winter window and current Feyenoord player, spoke on the Mexican podcast “We Are Brave.” Among the many statements and anecdotes, he recalled when the Rossoneri knocked on his door last summer. Here are his words, as relayed via Milanpress.it:

"I was continuing to improve, even though the media didn’t want to admit it, and the stats spoke for me. That’s when Nottingham Forest came in with an offer. Feyenoord wasn’t convinced and asked me: ‘What do you want to do?’ I had other clubs talking to me, saying they would make more offers, so I decided to wait. It was the right time to move on, after two years, I had won almost everything with the Dutch team."
Santiago Gimenez continued:
"On the last day, Milan came in and put half of what Nottingham had offered on the table, and of course, the club rejected it. It would have been a great opportunity, other chances will come, but when they called me, I was like: wow."
