Conceicao: “I feel sorry for all Milan fans… The best player was Torino’s goalkeeper”

In a post-match interview with DAZN, AC Milan's boss, Sergio Conceicao, was asked the following:

Match decided by two lapses in concentration: was there not total determination?

"Pavlovic has the characteristics of a warrior. Players have different personalities. I feel sorry for the fans who were here for these last matches. The last 12 or 15 goals we conceded were unforced errors, not caused by the opponent. This is not about strategy or lineup choices; sometimes I ask myself questions without answers. Today, Torino was leading 1-0 at halftime without taking a shot—we scored the goal ourselves, then missed a penalty and a few chances. Certain things happen where we need to be stronger. Every strange situation, we concede a goal and find ourselves trailing—it’s not easy for the players either. The best player on the pitch was Torino’s goalkeeper; we took 30 shots. The incidents are truly incredible, but we need to stay united and strong. I feel sorry for all Milan fans."

Rafael Leão left out—tactical decision or physical issue?

"A bit of both: Rafa wasn’t at his best, and there are other players. We don’t rely on just one player—every player is important. It’s not about substitutions or formations, because conceding two such ridiculous goals would make any team struggle."

Why was Yunus Musah substituted after five minutes and not at halftime?

"Musah had a yellow card and was a risk with Torino’s counterattacks. I had to take a chance and bring on more attacking players while keeping balance. For me, it was crucial to send a signal to the team to be more present in the final 30 meters."

The Curva is taking it out on the team and not on the ownership—what needs to be demonstrated? Conceicao commented:

"They’re right, they’re right, they’re absolutely right. There’s no need to say anything. It’s against us who are here and not winning—it’s normal that they always have big expectations. We’re not happy when criticism is directed at the management, the players, or the staff. We are Milan, and we take criticism together."
