Before finalizing a replacement for Sergio Conceição, Milan will first appoint a new sporting director, a key figure in shaping the club’s future. In the coming weeks, Milan’s CEO, Giorgio Furlani, will meet with four candidates, two of whom are currently the clear favorites for this prestigious position: Igli Tare and Fabio Paratici. However, no immediate appointment is expected, as the Rossoneri executive intends to take all the necessary time to decide who will be entrusted with Milan’s revival.
Nevertheless, Furlani is already trying to move ahead of schedule, as recent contacts suggest with the man expected to take charge of the Rossoneri next season: Massimiliano Allegri.
Phone contact between Giorgio Furlani and Max Allegri
"It always starts with a call," wrote La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning. Back in 2021, Massimiliano Allegri returned to Juventus after a phone conversation with then-president Andrea Agnelli—who’s to say the same scenario couldn’t unfold for his return to Milan, this time with Giorgio Furlani on the other end of the line?
According to La Gazzetta, the Milan CEO recently spoke with Allegri through a mutual acquaintance. For now, it was merely an introductory call—a chance to greet and introduce themselves—not yet a formal negotiation. However, in the coming weeks, things could begin to take shape, with Allegri potentially accepting Milan’s proposal without much hesitation if the conditions are right.
A return to the Rossoneri for the coach is therefore possible, though, as previously mentioned, much will depend on who is chosen as the new sporting director.
