Who will be Milan’s new sporting director? And with him, who will be the new coach?

That is the question that all Rossoneri fans have been asking themselves for over a month now, unfortunately, still doesn’t have a definitive answer. The casting continues, and although an important initial selection of candidates, as in the most classic of job interviews, has already been widely made, for CEO Giorgio Furlani the time to choose has not yet come.

After the meeting that took place recently in Rome with Igli Tare, Sunday at San Siro the big match against Atalanta could be the right occasion for a face-to-face meeting also with Tony D’Amico.

On Tuesday, the Rossoneri CEO traveled by train to Rome to meet the former Lazio executive, currently without a contract and therefore free to sign immediately with Milan. A summit that lasted more than two hours, in which, among the many topics discussed, they even got to the point of naming the three coaches Tare would like to bring to Milan: Massimiliano Allegri, Vincenzo Italiano, or Cesc Fabregas, in no particular order.

At the end of the meeting, however, the handshake did not, metaphorically speaking, end with a “see you in Milan,” but rather with one of the most classic “we’ll let you know,” which left all possibilities open.

What about Tony D'Amico?

It’s no secret that the dossier of Tony D’Amico, current sporting director of Atalanta, has been on Giorgio Furlani’s table for some time now. His contract with the Bergamo club still has a long duration. The former Verona man is appreciated for his low-profile attitude away from the microphones, his excellent scouting ability, and his strong team-working skills, but convincing the Percassi family to let him go will be necessary above all, as told by Calciomercato.com.

More meetings for Milan managers to set?

That’s why the match scheduled for Easter at San Siro, starting at 8:45 PM CET, could be the right occasion for everyone to meet face-to-face before the game to talk about the future. The relations between the clubs are excellent, starting from the Charles De Ketelaere operation, and a negotiation for the sporting director is also possible today.

This time, however, the “we’ll let you know” might come from Atalanta to Furlani, with the casting for the sporting director role set to remain open for a while longer.
