Serafini: “Favourite coach for the future? Conte. He is a winner”

We are now in the the final month of the season for Milan: the central objective of the Rossoneri is clearly the Coppa Italia final against Bologna, scheduled for next May 14. In the league, however, the standings do not smile upon Conceicao's team, as they sit in ninth place. Journalist Luca Serafini spoke on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel and offered his point of view on the club’s current moment.

Luca Serafini’s thoughts on the end of the season:

“The two matches that remain (before the final) are essentially training sessions, with all due respect to the opponents. For Milan it is only a matter of carrying out dress rehearsals, honoring their commitments. However, they must find their condition, recover players, and train for what is the only and final goal for this end of the season.”

Too early to take stock?

“You settle accounts at the end. Many evaluations of what the season has been from a technical, administrative, and club standpoint won’t change one bit even with a possible victory in the Cup. Clearly, winning it changes the fans’ morale and shields them from all the teasing from rival supporters. From an internal point of view, I believe the evaluation by Milan supporters in general will remain centered on the many and endless disappointments suffered this year: the inexplicable elimination from the Champions League when you had very easy match points, and this distance from the top positions in the league are two very heavy burdens," as relayed via Milannews.it.

On the sporting director issue and the risk of continuing with the same organizational chart at AC Milan, Serafini commented:

“The sporting director in a football club is like the head physician in a hospital department, the stationmaster in a train station: a figure who cannot and must not be missing. He doesn’t just handle the transfer market, incoming and outgoing, but also manages the coach and the locker room, plans the redundancies, the famous squad lists... Without constantly invoking Berlusconi, Milan, when it had an objective, would go and get it: if it didn’t get it, it was because there were snags that made it impossible to reach. If you wanted Paratici, you’d get Paratici; if you wanted Tare, you’d get Tare. After two years of this role being vacant, it is impossible to go without. We expected Ibrahimovic, but first the words about Conte and other coaches, then the little theatre with Berta, make me think that there is no decision-making power like there was with Maldini.”

Preferred coach for the future?

“My favorite is Antonio Conte because he is a winner, he puts things in order, he knows what to do, he motivates the players, he is the most ready of all. I don’t like Allegri as a returning figure. Who will come, honestly, I don’t know.”
