Three days to go until the Coppa Italia final between Milan and Bologna: a match that, for the Rossoneri, could change the overall judgment of a season that, in any case, would still remain negative as a whole. The Rossoneri team is determined to win its second trophy of the year, which would still be a great achievement, and coach Sergio Conceição will find out in the coming hours whether he can rely on Youssouf Fofana, who came off during the first half of the second-to-last league match against Genoa and was absent on Friday against Bologna at San Siro.

Youssouf Fofana Back to work
Let’s rewind the tape of the past week for the French midfielder. As usual, Fofana started in the match last Monday against Genoa at the "Ferraris" but had to raise the white flag after half an hour due to a blow received to the sole of his foot. In the following days, the former Monaco player followed a therapy program at Milanello, sitting out Friday’s match against Bologna to avoid taking risks. Over the weekend, already from Saturday, he began a personalized training program on the pitch, together with Fikayo Tomori, who had come off after a few minutes in the match at San Siro. The hope, clearly, is to have him available for the big final on May 14.
The absence of Youssouf Fofana should not be underestimated, not only because he has quickly become a starter at Milan and has been one of the best players for much of the season, but also because he forms a well-established pairing with Tijjani Reijnders. Moreover, the Frenchman, with his ability to break up play in midfield, has brought back some balance to a midfield that had lacked it for some time. The most striking and perhaps also the most unexpected stat (whether reading it today or at the start of the season) is the one related to assists.
In fact, after Leao’s 11 assists and Pulisic’s 10, Fofana is the third-best assist provider of the season with 9. A quality that might be missed. In his place, however, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is already getting into form in the last two matches, has stepped in, and he is a profile that Conceição likes a lot: the Rossoneri are therefore covered, although – considering Bondo’s possible absence – it would be crucial to have Fofana back, at least on the bench.
