Finally, the sporting director has been chosen, with Igli Tare officially announced yesterday.

Now Milan needs a coach—and needs one quickly—because the Rossoneri have already lost too much time. The profile of the new Rossoneri coach has long been outlined: no more gambles; he must be experienced, Italian, and deeply familiar with Serie A. At the moment, the casting appears to revolve mainly around two names: Vincenzo Italiano and Massimiliano Allegri.

At the top of the list...

As explained this morning by Corriere della Sera, Italiano has long been at the top of Milan’s wish list, but he is in talks with Bologna for a contract renewal. Yesterday, the two parties met without yet reaching an agreement, although the club from Emilia remains cautiously optimistic that a deal will eventually be found. The Rossoneri are staying on the sidelines and watching closely what happens. Until there is a signature, the management will continue its pressure and is ready to offer a salary of more than three million euros—more than what Bologna appears willing to offer him. In short, the battle is tough, but still open.

Milan in a hurry?

Within the club, many believe that the right coach for this Milan is Allegri. The problem is that once again, the Rossoneri have moved late: the Livorno-born coach is in fact Napoli’s top target in case Antonio Conte leaves, with Conte expected to return to Juventus. That’s why the club, if it really wants to bring him back to Milanello, needs to act fast and strike immediately—without wasting any more time. The Rossoneri casting for the bench also includes other names like Roberto Mancini and Thiago Motta. Lastly, some thought is also being given to Cesc Fabregas.
